Julie Israel grew up in a rainy pocket of Portland, so it’s no wonder she got cozy in books. She likes her writing like her décor: eclectic, with strong bones, warm vignettes, and textured layers looping gravity with play. Her favorite stories are clever and woven with surprises, but deeply human; places you can inhabit a while, and come back to. When not writing, find her making art, adopting another plant or DIY project, or slowly listening to more of the music her dad likes, and not even being mad about it.
